Marketing Strategies & Tactics Must Be Managed & Measured Constantly & Consistently

No matter why marketing strategies (thoughts) and marketing tactics (actions) that you employ, they must be managed and measured constantly and consistently. Failure to do so can possibly have you missing incredible opportunities to leverage success or make some course corrections on some not so successful strategies and tactics around.

One of my marketing strategies is Internet article marketing. Every morning I invest 45 minutes to track current efforts from daily views on new articles to click through rates on all articles. When I notice an article receiving better than a 10% click through rate based on views, I review the article to make sure that at least 20% of those click throughs are turning into conversions. In this case, the conversions are sign ups to my list serve through an auto responder.

Another marketing strategy is Google alerts. By subscribing to Google Alerts, I can see how many times my name appears daily on the Internet. I also track some other key search words.

As I write a weekly business column for the Post Tribune (Merrillville, IN), I keep track of all calls received. In most cases, they are readers who enjoyed a specific topic, but 2 of them have been solid leads as potential new clients. Also, when I am contacted, I ask the reader to contact the editor to let him know of his or her opinion about the column. In this way, not only do I look good, but so does the editor when he reports to his boss.

Whatever marketing strategies or actions that you employ within the marketing plan in your strategic plan, they must be managed and measured to ensure that you receive the results that you are seeking. Otherwise, why would you be engaged in these activities when there are a plethora of other marketing activities that you can embrace?
